Daily Breakdown
You will be picked up from your Nairobi hotel or Jomo Kenyatta International Airport and be transferred to the Wilson airport for your departure flight to Samburu airstrip. Upon arrival, pick up and transfer to your luxury camp. After lunch, relax before a late afternoon game drive. Samburu has a lot to offer in terms of wildlife, birds, and scenery. The Four of the Big Five (elephant, leopard, lion & buffalo) are also residents here.
Enjoy an early morning game drive in the reserve, then back to the camp for breakfast. Relax at the camp before lunch. The reserve located in the north provides a strong contrast to other national parks in Kenya. The desert-like landscape is dominated by the yellow-brown savannah grass, intermingled with acacia trees and thorny bushes. Along the many source pools and rivers that run through the region seasonally. The rivers are coloured brown and invite elephant to swim. You have here the opportunity to spot the rare species such as the Grevy’s Zebra or Gerenuk antelope, which are otherwise not found in Kenya.
After breakfast you will enjoy a morning game drive in search of wildlife and later transfer to the airstrip for your departure flight to the world’s famous Masai Mara Game Reserve. Upon arrival transfer to your camp for a hot buffet lunch. Afterward go for an afternoon game drive in the reserve. You will have a good chance of seeing herds of buffalo and zebra as well as hippos and lots of bird’s species.
Enjoy the day in the game park, with morning an afternoon game drives. In addition, you can take an optional hot air balloon safari early morning or visit the Masai village (additional cost). The Masai Mara is one of the most unique regions of the world with breath-taking scenery of natural beauty. The reserve is home to the world’s highest concentration of savannah animals of various species of antelope, about giraffes, buffaloes, and elephants to high populations of big cats.
You can choose to go on a full-day game drive with packed lunch boxes from your camp which you shall enjoy within the Masai Mara National reserve, or if you prefer, do an early morning and late afternoon game drive. This is your final day in the Masai mara before you depart on day 6.
